This is the inaugural issue of the rebooted Chroma, Journal of the Australasian Computer Music Association. From 1989 to 2006, Chroma was regularly issued by the ACMA with a particular focus on reporting events in the computer music community to a primarily Australian and New Zealand audience and had 37 issues. In 2022, Chroma has been reimagined as an academic journal catering to an international audience, but with a focus on computer music research and scholarship happening in Australia and New Zealand. This inaugural issue starts at volume 38 recognising the significant history of Chroma and computer music in the region. The articles in this issue include contributions presented at the Australasian Computer Music Conference in 2020 and 2021 which were both held online as well as articles contributed by other authors.
